The employment of caretakers in secondary schools and their conditions of employment (pay, pension, etc.) are matters for the authorities of those schools. My Department pays capitation grants to secondary schools but there is no fund specifically for the payment of caretakers employed in secondary schools. The possible application of the social employment scheme to this area is being examined at present.
