Vol. 359 No. 9

Written Answers. - Leixlip (Kildare) Industry.

21.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism when it is likely that an industry will be located on the industrial site at Collinstown, Leixlip, County Kildare.

22.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism the measures he is taking or proposes to take in relation to the provision of industry on the industrial site recently acquired by the IDA at Collinstown, Leixlip, County Kildare.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 21 and 22 together.

I am informed that the Industrial Development Authority are actively promoting their 55 acre site at Collinstown, Leixlip, County Kildare, for a suitable major industrial project. As the Deputy is aware, outline planning permission has been acquired for the site. The IDA have now applied for planning permission to carry out development work thereon and will shortly be applying for full planning permission which would facilitate the erection of a factory on the site as soon as a project therefor is negotiated.

23.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism if consideration has been given to the setting up of an enterprise centre in Leixlip, County Kildare.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority, the body responsible for the promotion of industrial development, that they have no plans to provide an enterprise centre in Leixlip, County Kildare. The authority have, however, acquired a 55 acre site in Leixlip and this is being actively promoted for a suitable major industrial project.

In Celbridge, a few miles from Leixlip, the local community council have provided an enterprise centre and this is capable of meeting the demand for space for small industry in the area at present. The IDA will consider grant aid for any suitable industrial projects setting up in the centre in Celbridge.
