The application in this case has been refused because the works proposed did not come within the scope of the house improvement grants scheme. The applicant has been so informed.

Mr. Cowen
asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the application for a grant for a well from a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.
There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. However, there is an application from a person with the same name but from a slightly different address. The application in this case was for the installation of a water supply. A grant was not allowed in this instance because, contrary to a statutory condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant was so informed on 4 October 1984.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a statement on the situation with regard to the application for a £2,000 new house grant made by a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.
The grant application in this case was received in October 1982 in respect of a house commenced in July 1982 and a provisional approval to a grant of £1,000 issued in April 1983. Following a recent inspection of the house, further clarification of the position is necessary in order to determine the appropriate level of grant payable in this case.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspection of a new house will be carried out and a grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.
An incomplete application form for a new house grant was received from the person named on 10 June 1985. An inspection of the house cannot be carried out until the further information recently requested by my Department is submitted by the applicant.
