Vol. 360 No. 1

Written Answers. - Irish Leathers Limited.

173.

asked the Minister for Labour the extent of advance notice given to him by Irish Leathers Limited in respect of trading difficulties experienced and the likelihood of redundancy of workers or closure of tanneries prior to the appointment of a receiver/manager.

Irish Leathers Limited have not been in touch with my Department in respect of trading difficulties, the likelihood of redundancy of workers or the closure of tanneries prior to the appointment of a receiver/manager. My Department have, however, informed the receiver of the necessity of complying with the Protection of Employees Act, 1977 should he contemplate making collective redundancies.
