Vol. 360 No. 1

Written Answers. - Farm Accountancy Data Network.

27.

(Limerick West) asked the Taoiseach following Parliamentary Questions Nos. 32 and 33 of 11 June 1985 if he will now provide the following information: if he takes responsibility for the accuracy of CSO data supplied to the Farm Accountancy Data Network; the reason he uses the word “guideline” in his reply rather than criteria as used in the question; and if he can now confirm the accuracy of the data sent to Brussels for all years subsequent to 1973 for the FADN.

No CSO data are involved in the EC Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN). As indicated in reply to Questions Nos. 32 and 33 of 11 June 1985, An Foras Talúntais are responsible for the detailed implementation of the FADN in Ireland. The CSO, as the FADN liaison agency, is satisfied that the definitions and instructions for completing the individual farm returns, laid down in the relevant EC legislation, are adhered to by An Foras. Direct reference should be made to An Foras for precise information on the methodology, etc., used in collecting the basic data.
