asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the percentage of males and females in the workforce in Dublin over the past three years in relation to the total workforce.

Estimates of the number of persons in the labour force classified by region are available for years in which either a census of population or a sample labour force survey (LFS) is held.

The following table shows, separately for males and females, the labour force in Dublin city and county as a percentage of the total labour force for the years 1981, 1983 and 1984.

Note:

(1) The labour force survey is a household sample survey covering some 40-45,000 households.
