Vol. 360 No. 1

Written Answers. - OPW Wage Agreement.

69.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the decision taken by the Commissioners of the Office of Public Works not to pay the second phase of the current wage agreement involving their craftsmen and general operatives on the agreed date of 27 June 1985.

The Commissioners of Public Works have not taken any decision not to pay any phase of the 24th pay round to craftsmen or general operatives. The position, in fact, is that all phases of the current pay round have been paid to general operatives. The second phase of the craftsmen's pay round became due for payment only on 1 July and will be paid from that date.

Arrears which are due under this pay round will, it is anticipated, be paid out later this month. No commitment was entered into to pay out arrears on 27 June 1985.
