Vol. 360 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grange (Dublin) Community College Facilities.

166.

asked the Minister for Education if she will provide gymnasium facilities at Grange Community College, County Dublin; if she will accept that the facilities that are proposed to be provided at the sports and leisure complex at Donaghmede are totally unsuited to the needs of the school-going population at the college; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The proposed sports and leisure complex at Donaghmede will be constructed in a site adjacent to Grange Community College.

As the complex is receiving substantial financial assistance from the recreation and facilities section of the Department of Labour and from the County Council, it is considered that it should serve both school and community needs.

I am satisfied that the facilities proposed for the complex will be suitable for the school's programme of physical education and believe that satisfactory arrangements can be worked out for its use during the school day.
