asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the number of unsettled claims by fishing vessel owners against An Bord Iascaigh Mhara for alleged negligence or otherwise; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the amount paid or payable to fishing vessel owners by An Board Iascaigh Mhara arising from claims against it for negligence or otherwise.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 28 and 29 together.

The total amount paid to fishing vessel owners arising from claims against An Bord Iascaigh Mhara for negligence or other reasons was IR£376,077. There are four notified actions pending against the board in respect of similar claims.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the nationality of the purchaser of each fishing vessel repossessed and surrendered in the period 1979 to 1985.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the national and EC grants involved in each fishing vessel repossessed or surrendered in the period 1979 to 1985; the aggregate figure for the period; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the loss to the State resulting from the sale of each fishing vessel repossessed or surrendered in the period 1979 to 1985; the aggregate figure for the period; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

33.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the price realised by the sale of each fishing vessel repossessed or surrendered in the period 1979 to 1985; and the aggregate figure for the period.

34.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the cost of construction of each fishing vessel repossessed or surrendered in the period 1979 to 1985; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

35.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the number of fishing vessels repossessed or surrendered to An Bord Iascaigh Mhara each year in the period 1979 to 1985; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 30 to 35, inclusive, together.

The information requested is contained in the following tabular státement. I would like to point out, however, that the information supplied is aggregated in all cases where details particular to each individual vessel was requested as I am sure the Deputy will appreciate that it is not appropriate to reveal information in the detail requested in relation to individual fishermen's accounts.
