Vol. 360 No. 5

Written Answers. - Galway Main Drainage Scheme.

36.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the proposed erection of a pump house and outfall piping for Galway main drainage for South Park in Galway city; and whether he has now decided the scheme will include treatment of effluent prior to discharge.

While a revised preliminary report for the Galway main drainage scheme proposal was submitted to my Department some time ago examination of the proposal has been deferred pending further consideration by the local authority of aspects of the proposed scheme. In this connection I understand that consideration is being given by both Galway County Council and Galway Corporation to the commissioning of a water quality study of Galway Bay and a decision by the local authorities on this is awaited in my Department.
