Vol. 360 No. 5

Written Answers. - Farm Modernisation Scheme.

170.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to pay three-quarters of the farm buildings scheme grant, under the farm modernisation scheme, to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person mentioned received approval under the farm modernisation scheme on 23 August 1982 for the construction of a silage slab, effluent tank, fence and gate. The procedure is that the grant becomes payable on satisfactory completion of all of the items on the approval document and it is not, therefore, possible to pay a partial grant on completion of some of the items. In any event there could be no question of paying a grant for a silage slab without appropriate provision being made for the effluent. As the applicant will have completed the maximum period of six years in the other high category on 23 July 1985 the work must be completed to specification by that date in order to qualify for the rate of grant appropriate to the other high category.
