Vol. 361 No. 6

Written Answers. - Reopening of Tanneries.

45.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism the up-to-date position concerning the reopening of the tanneries at Carrick-on-Suir, Portlaw and Dungarvan with particular reference to the employment content, production targets and future trading plans; the reason for the delay in reopening the plants; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The tanneries in question have been purchased by new owners who have stated that it is intended to establish a sound and economically viable base for future growth. However, the details and timing of its development plans are matters for the company itself.
