Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a house improvement grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Grants for the installation of sewerage facilities and the building of a bathroom have already been approved in this case and a grant for the installation of water facilities will be approved as soon as possible. On receipt of notification of completion of works, a final inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of these grants.

49.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a house improvement grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A grant of £600 for the carrying out of necessary repairs to the basic fabric of the house has been approved in this case. On receipt of notification of completion of works, a final inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

50.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will reconsider the refusal to pay a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the fact that his draughtsman calculated the size using the old system of excluding walls etc.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case as the floor area of the house exceeds the statutory limit of 125 sq. m. (1346 sq. ft.). The existing method of calculating the floor area for grant purposes has been in operation since the introduction of the new house grant scheme in May 1977.
