Vol. 361 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

53.

asked the Minister for the Environment when remaining grants will be paid to a group water scheme (details supplied); and the amount which will be granted to this scheme.

Following the recent inspection of the scheme by the Department's local inspector, the total amount of grants due for this scheme has now been determined and a final allocation of £40,890 has been notified to the group. Grants totalling £28,741 have already been made and the sum of £3,500 is being withheld from the total allocation for issue to Galway Councy Council in respect of road restoration costs. Payment of the balance of grants due to the group (£8,649) will be made shortly.

54.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether it is proposed to increase home improvement grants on English speaking islands in line with recent increases elsewhere.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant in respect of a new roof has been refused to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary as the old roof collapsed; when this will be paid; and the amount which will be paid.

A house improvement grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a statutory condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house had been carried out by the Department's inspector.
