Since January 1984, the local improvements scheme has been confined to farm road projects eligible for EC aid under the western package. The scheme does not apply to projects, such as drainage schemes and works on bog roads, which do not come within the scope of the package. The position relating to the availability of funds in 1986 for capital schemes, including the local improvements scheme, will be set out in the 1986 Public Capital Programme.
