Vol. 361 No. 6

Written Answers. - By-pass Surgery.

74.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 has been awaiting a by-pass operation for the past ten months at the Mater Hospital and that this person's condition has deteriorated in the interim and that his local GP has expressed serious concern that this major surgery should be carried out immediately.

The criterion for selection of patients for by-pass surgery is medical need. The person in question, who has, I understand, been on the waiting list for ten months, will have his operation at the earliest possible date.
