Vol. 361 No. 7

Written Answers. - Cork Harbour Pollution.

47.

asked the Minister for the Environment the action, if any, he proposes to take with regard to the recent reports of the alleged pollution in Cork harbour.

The question of any followup action is primarily a matter for Cork County Council, as pollution control authority for the waters concerned. On the basis of their most recent survey on the harbour carried out in 1984, the council are satisfied that the water quality is satisfactory. However, in order to allay public fears, I understand that a special up-dated report on the 1984 water quality survey of the harbour is being prepared for submission to the elected members of the council.
