Vol. 361 No. 7

Written Answers. - Gort (Galway) Golf Club.

87.

asked the Minister for Labour when the remainder of a youth employment scheme grant will be paid to Gort Golf Club; and if he will approve a further grant to complete the work on this project.

A grant to enable Gort Golf Club to employ six young workers and a supervisor for 15 weeks was approved by my Department in December 1984. Following a request from the club a second grant was sanctioned to enable the workforce to be retained for a further 15 weeks. The project ended on 10 July 1985.

Of the moneys due to the club, £13,050 has already been paid. In accordance with the terms of Teamwork the balance of the grant due — approximately £600 — will be retained until a certified audited account of expenditure on the project has been received and examined.

Due to exceptional demand for Teamwork in 1985 it was not possible to allocate further grant aid to Gort Golf Club. It is, however, open to the club to apply to the National Manpower Service for assistance under the social employment scheme.
