Vol. 362 No. 1

Written Answers. - Third Level Colleges.

200.

asked the Minister for Education if she will approve the provision of a regional technical college in Monaghan.

The national plan Building on Reality 1984-1987 outlines at paragraph 7.85 the priorities in regard to additional provision in the third level sector. These do not include the provision of a regional technical college in Monaghan and no such proposal has been made to my Department. In this connection it should be noted that the regional technical colleges were established to serve designated regions, each region comprising a number of counties or parts thereof. County Monaghan is served by Dundalk Regional Technical College. There would not appear to be a substantiated case for a regional technical college in Monaghan.
