Vol. 362 No. 1

Written Answers. - Housing Finance Agency Loan.

61.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider allowing a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 who is a deserted wife to qualify for a Housing Finance Agency loan of three times her income approximately £12,500 which together with the new Government grants would allow her to purchase a small house in the area of her choice; if he will consider amending regulations which insist that a person must have earnable income so that persons in her category might qualify.

The approved loan scheme of the Housing Finance Agency does not make any distinction between the sources of income of applicants. The approval of loans in particular cases is, however, a matter for the agency and the local authorities which administer the scheme on its behalf, having regard to the circumstances of the individual applicants.
