Vol. 362 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

46.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Offaly will receive payment of his house improvement grant as the inspector has passed the work.

In connection with the application for a grant for the provision of a bedroom a further inspection is being arranged in this case. On receipt of the inspector's report the applicant will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible.

A grant for the building of a bathroom could not be allowed as there is an existing bathroom in the house. Neither could a grant for the carrying out of necessary repairs be allowed as the house is the property of the local authority.

Payment of the mortgage subsidy cannot be made until a claim form, duly completed and certified by the relevant lending agency, is received in my Department.
