Vol. 362 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

19.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Arrangements have already been made for a further inspection in this area with a view to payment of the grant. The work had not been satisfactorily completed when an inspector previously called in October 1985.

20.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a house improvement grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with the same name but from a broadly similar address. The grant in that case will be paid as soon as possible.

21.

asked the Minister for the Environment the date on which a new house grant was paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A new house grant was paid in instalments by my Department during 1974 and 1975.

22.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position with regard to an application for a new house grant from a person (details supplied) in County Galway which was made over 12 months ago as the applicant had not received a reply from his Department.

There is no record in my Department of an application for a new house grant from the person named. An application has been received, however, from a person with the same surname and address. In that case a new house grant has been approved. An inspection with a view to payment of the grant will be arranged when the applicant notifies my Department that his house is complete and occupied.

23.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the provision of a range, back boiler or radiators and a central heating system is covered in any way by the new house improvement grant scheme announced recently.

Under the house improvement scheme, a grant is not given for the provision of a range, back boiler, radiators or central heating system. Where a masonry chimney is being provided in a house without a chimney, the provision of a backboiler may be included in the work qualifying for grant.

24.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with the same name from a broadly similar address. The position in that case is that, on receipt of notification of completion of works, an inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

25.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has an application for a house improvement scheme grant on hands since 1982 on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; if he is aware that due to this, the work has only recently been finished and the applicant now awaiting for payment of grants due and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Approval of a grant in this case has had to be deferred since September 1982 as, despite requests, evidence of planning permission required in respect of the provision of a septic tank has not been furnished to the Department. In the absence of such evidence and any notification that work has been completed, the question of payment of a grant has not arisen. However, in the light of the position now set out by the Deputy an inspection is being arranged. If planning permission has been obtained or works not requiring planning permission have been finished satisfactorily arrangements will be made to pay any appropriate grants.

26.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of pre-1940 houses approved by his Department for grants in 1985 and the number of those grants which have been paid.

The statistics kept in my Department of grant approvals and payments have not distinguished between pre-1940 and other houses.
