Vol. 362 No. 11

Written Answers. - Civil Service Tenure of Office Provisions.

25.

asked the Minister for the Public Service if, in cases where secretaries or nominated officers dismiss staff up to clerical level without reference to Government, he will give details of the appeal procedure available to staff to protect their positions.

The intention is that those civil servants who are affected by the new tenure of office provisions will be brought within the scope of the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act, 1973 and the Unfair Dismissals Act, 1977, and thus will have the same protection as those Acts now give to persons outside the Civil Service.
