Vol. 362 No. 14

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

48.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will expedite a tax rebate for a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer and her spouse are assessed to income tax on the basis of their joint incomes in accordance with the provisions of section 194 of the Income Tax Act, 1967. The documentation submitted by the taxpayer's husband to the inspector of taxes was not sufficient for the purpose of carrying out a full review of his liability for the years 1983-84, 1984-85 and 1985-86. In this connection the inspector will now communicate directly with him for the additional details required to enable the reviews to be carried out.
