Vol. 362 No. 14

Written Answers. - Cork Radiotherapy Service.

55.

asked the Minister for Health the reason patients are travelling from Cork to Dublin for radiotherapy and the plans he has to improve the level of radiotherapy service in Cork.

Radiotherapy services are provided in the Cork Regional Hospital. In the current year it is expected that full treatment will have been provided by that hospital for about 500 in-patients and about 5,000 out-patient attendances. Up to the end of October only three patients had been referred from Cork Regional Hospital to Dublin for further intensive radiotherapy treatment. The question of improving the level of service at Cork is being kept under review.
