Vol. 363 No. 1

Slaughtered and Detained Animals (Compensation) Bill, 1985: Order for Second Stage.

Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Slaughtered Animals (Compensation) Act, 1928, to enable the Slaughtered Animals (Compensation) Trustees to be dissolved and to provide, in the event of the said Trustees being dissolved, for certain other matters connected with such dissolution.

When is it proposed to take Second Stage?

I move: "That the Second Stage be ordered for Wednesday, 29 January 1986", subject to agreement between the Whips.

Question put and agreed to.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the failure of the new owner to reopen the tannery at Carrickon-Suir in Tipperary.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

Is it proposed to proceed with the Gaming and Lotteries Bill? If not, when will another Bill be introduced in substitution?

We have left the Order of Business and are now dealing with item No. 4.

I have rarely seen the Order of Business dealt with so quickly in this Dáil.

It was dealt with quite quickly and a number of items were taken. I called item No. 4 and asked when it was proposed to take Second Stage. I got the date and I got agreement on it.

I am sure the Taoiseach would like to give the information to the House since it is a matter of some public concern. It is on the Order Paper.

Perhaps the Deputy can raise it tommorrow.
