It is expected that the National Lottery, which is to be operated by An Post subject to the settlement of satisfactory terms, will commence later in 1986. A precise date for commencement has not yet been set; this will be done when an accurate view of the time required to enact the enabling legislation and to carry out all necessary preparatory work can be formulated.
