asked the Minister for Health the cost to his Department of the advertisements for each of the last three years notifying the public of the income limits for general medical service cards.

The cost of advertisements attributable to notifying the public of changes in the general services medical card guidelines for each of the three years 1983, 1984 and 1985 was as follows: 1983, nil; 1984, £18,789.45; 1985, £39,579.17*.

*This figure includes the cost of advertising the changes effective from 1 January 1986 in addition to the changes effective in 1985.
