Vol. 363 No. 8

Written Answers. - Personal Injuries.

73.

asked the Minister for Justice if in relation to the 1985 provisional outturn of £3.99 million for compensation for personal injuries criminally inflicted (G.1) he will state the number of claims which this represents and the approximate amount awarded for pain and suffering.

Limerick East): 830 final awards and 22 interim awards were paid in 1985 under the scheme of compensation for personal injuries criminally inflicted. I am informed that it is not the practice for the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal to specify the amount for pain and suffering in awards and that, accordingly, statistics showing such amounts are not available.
