Vol. 363 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

43.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a mortgage subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Louth which was applied for in 1984.

An incomplete application for a new house grant and mortgage subsidy was received from the applicant in April 1985. He was requested at the time to forward further information and documentation which has not since been received.

44.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received proposals for an application of the house improvement grants scheme to local authority housing in Limerick city; if he will agree to these proposals; if so, how soon they can be implemented; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Applications for improvement grants in respect of local authority houses have not been received from Limerick Corporation.

45.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a final inspection will be carried out and the payment will be made of a reconstruction grant for a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

The inspection has been carried out and the grant will be paid as soon as possible.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a new house grant from the person named.

47.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the application for a 1986 home improvement grant made by a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A grant for the carrying out of necessary repairs to the basic fabric of the house was approved in this case under the 1981 scheme of house improvement grants. Persons who had current applications under that scheme were given an opportunity to opt for the new scheme if they fulfilled certain conditions but there is no record in my Department that the person named exercised such an option. Accordingly, on receipt of notification that the works for which a grant has been approved have been completed an inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

48.

asked the Minister for the Environment if it is his intention to apply the HIG regulation, where contractors must be registered, for applicants to quality for the new house and mortgage subsidy grants; and when he intends to make an announcement on the matter.

I expect to be in a position to make an announcement in this matter shortly.
