Vol. 363 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

58.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant plus mortgage subsidy will be paid to persons (details supplied) in County Clare.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and all the conditions of the grant scheme have been fulfilled. An inspector called on a number of occasions to the house but has been unable to gain access. A further inspection, by appointment, will be carried out shortly. Payment of the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy cannot be made until the grant has been paid and the applicant submits the appropriate claim from, duly completed and certified by the lending agency.

59.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position in regard to the application for a new home improvement grant of a person (details supplied) in County Offaly; and if he will arrange to have an early inspection carried out.

An inspection with a view to approval of a grant will be arranged as soon as possible.

60.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the £5,000 surrender grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Laois.

The grant will be paid as soon as possible.

61.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a house repair grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The application under the 1981 scheme of house improvement grants related to the provision of bathroom and sewerage facilities and the installation of new windows. Grants could not be given as work on the bathroom and sewerage facilities and commenced before an inspection was carried out and the replacement of windows qualified for a grant under the 1981 scheme only when it formed part of a larger scheme of necessary works to the fabric of the house. A grant for the window replacement could not be given under the new house improvements scheme as the particular works had been carried out before the scheme was introduced.

62.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to pay a mortgage interest subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The second instalment of the mortgage subsidy was paid on 20 December 1985. The third instalment is not due until 30 November 1986.

63.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to pay a mortgage interest subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

When the applicant submits the duplicate claim form issued to him in July 1985, duly completed and certified by the lending agency, the second instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be paid.

64.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange an early inspection for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford so that approval may issue in respect of his application for a new house grant.

An inspection was carried out recently and the grant will be paid shortly.

65.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspection will be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny for a house improvement grant applied for three weeks ago, as he is getting married in April, and wishes to have the work finalised by that time.

The application was received in my Department on 29 January 1986 and an inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.
