I have given approval for a harbour development scheme for Purteen Harbour, Achill, comprising underpinning of the landing pier, lowering the bedrock to its approach and dredging the adjacent channel. The Office of Public Works has been requested to proceed with the scheme and it is understood that work is due to commence late March or early April of this year.
