Vol. 363 No. 11

Written Answers. - Baldoyle (Dublin) Housing Estate.

19.

asked the Minister for the Environment, in view of the widespread and established defects in the construction of the roofs of houses built by Dublin Corporation in Seagrange Estate, Baldoyle, Dublin 13, and the continuing damage and hardship being experienced by residents, if he will provide the necessary finance to repair these roofs using A-type roof construction.

Grant assistance of up to two-thirds of the approved cost, subject to a maximum of £2,000 is available under the new house improvement grants scheme for the carrying out of necessary repairs to the basic fabric of a house including the provision, if necessary, of a new roof. It is a matter for the persons concerned, should they wish to avail of this scheme, to submit applications in the normal way to my Department. As regards an application made by Dublin Corporation for assistance under my Department's remedial works scheme in relation to this estate, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 26 of 11 December 1985.
