Vol. 363 No. 13

Written Answers. - Foreign Travel Expenditure.

41.

asked the Taoiseach the number of foreign trips undertaken by him, his Ministers of State and his staff in 1985; the destination, purpose and cost of each trip; and if he can estimate the cost of official trips in 1986.

In the case of my Department it would not be feasible, in the time available, to give a detailed breakdown of foreign travel in 1985 by the Taoiseach, the Minister of State and Government Chief Whip, the Minister of State for Arts and Culture, the Minister of State for Women's Affairs, the staff of my own Department and of the Central Statistics Office. The total cost of foreign travel, subsistence and official entertainment paid from my Department's Vote and the Vote of the CSO in 1985 was £214,151. Estimates for 1986 for my Department and the CSO include a provision of £216,319 in respect of these items.
