Vol. 364 No. 1

Written Answers. - Louth National School.

213.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in the payment of moneys due to Marymount national school, Drogheda, County Louth; the reason nobody from the Office of the Commissioner of Public Works was called to the school with reference to letter No. 106784 of 17 July 1985; the moneys due to the school; when payment will be made; and if he will make a statement setting out the sequence of events and giving details of the reasons for the delay in making payment.

The bulk of the grant in respect of the provision of windows and some security works at Marymount national school, Drogheda, County Louth, was paid by my Department on 5 February 1986 and the balance will shortly be paid. It is not my Department's practice to publish financial details of specific projects as these are regarded as confidential information as between the chairman of the board of management and my Department.

My Department have been advised by one of the local officers of the Office of Public Works, who inspected works while in progress on a number of occasions, that he was not in a position to certify payments until vouchers of cost became available in December last.
