Vol. 364 No. 1

Written Answers. - Farmers' Lung.

108.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the high incidence of Farmers' Lung this year, which is supposedly due to the mouldy quality of hay; and if he has taken any steps to inform the public regarding precautions to be taken.

Firm data on the incidence of Farmers' Lung during 1985 are not yet available in my Department. Since 1979, following research carried out by the Medico-Social Research Board which indicated a high incidence of the disease in the western and north-western areas of the country, information and advice has been made available on an on-going basis to the public on the prevention of Farmers' Lung.
