I assume that by the words "the cost... if retrospection was awarded" the Deputy means the extra cost of payment of the award from the dates recommended in the arbitration finding, over and above the cost of the award as modified by the Government with the approval of Dáil Éireann. The estimated cost per teacher would vary from £1,660 to £4,600 and would amount to £2,500 per teacher on average.
