Vol. 364 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments

27.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in carrying out an inspection in connection with a home improvement grant application made by a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

An inspection was carried out under the former grants scheme on 11 October 1985. Following a request from applicant the House was also inspected under the 1985 scheme on 24 January 1986, and a grant approval has since issued.

28.

asked the Minister for Environment when phases 1, 2, and 3 of the mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

Payment of the mortgage subsidy cannot commence until the applicant submits a claim form duly completed and certified by the appropriate lending agency.

29.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a house improvement grant application will be reconsidered for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford as it is specified in the waiting period section of memorandum HA2 relating to the scheme that where someone applies for a pre-1940 dwelling grant of £5,000 the only waiting period is a previous payment of such a grant.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given on 19 February to the Question No. 42, which sets out the position in this case. If the applicant now wishes to be considered for a grant for repairs and reconstruction of a pre-1940 dwelling it will be necessary for her to make a fresh application to the Department.

30.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant is not being paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

A grant cannot be paid in this case because, contrary to a condition of the scheme, the house is not being occupied as a normal place of residence.

31.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £5,000 surrender grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The grant will be paid during this month.

32.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan.

The first instalment of the mortgage subsidy was paid recently.

33.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a mortgage subsidy from the person named.

34.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to pay a mortgage interest subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be paid during this month.

35.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a mortgage subsidy from the person named.

36.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a reconstruction grant has not been paid for an additional bedroom to a person (details supplied) in County Cork in view of the fact that he has a problem of overcrowding.

A grant under the 1981 scheme could not be allowed in this case because, contrary to a statutory condition of eligibility, the additional accommodation was not necessary for the relief of overcrowding.

37.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

A final inspection is being arranged with a view to payment of the outstanding grants.

38.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to pay a mortgage interest subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a mortgage subsidy from the person named.

39.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the payment of a grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The person involved is a member of a group water scheme. The allocation and payment of grants for this scheme will be considered further on receipt of Galway County Council's approval to the design. Grants in respect of group water schemes are, of course, payable only to the scheme and not to individuals.

40.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment when a grant under the old home improvement grant scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly who submitted a certificate of approval over six months ago; and if he will arrange for the final inspection to be carried out immediately.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. There is however, an application from a person with the same name and a broadly similar address. In that case grant approval cannot be issued until evidence of planning permission, which was requested on 17 October 1984 is furnished to the Department.
