Vol. 364 No. 7

Written Answers. - FCA Subsistence Payments.

56.

asked the Minister for Defence the reasons the subsistence payments for FCA field days have been reduced; if he will agree that this policy, together with a reduction in annual training, is affecting the military standards of the FCA; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The rates of messing allowance payable in respect of attendance at field days have not been reduced. These rates are revised annually in line with increases in the rates of subsistence allowance payable to members of the Permanent Defence Force.

Notwithstanding the reduction in the normal annual training period in recent years I am advised that an acceptable standard of training is being maintained.
