Vol. 364 No. 11

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

48.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position with regard to an application for a grant under the old house improvement scheme from a person (details supplied) in County Galway, if he will give details of the date of the application and the amount of grant approved to the applicant; and when it is proposed to carry out a final inspection of the work completed.

An application in respect of the building of a bedroom to relieve overcrowding was received on 5 November 1985. This application has been rejected because, contrary to a statutory condition of the scheme, the five year waiting period had not elapsed since the payment of a previous grant on 8 May 1981. It is open to the applicant to re-apply under the new scheme on the expiration of the waiting period provided overcrowding exists and the work has not started before an inspection is carried out.
