asked the Minister for Finance the yield from visitor-passenger fares on all access routes to this country in 1985.

It is presumed that the Deputy has in mind fares in respect of travel to this country from abroad. There is no Exchequer tax on such fares and consequently no tax revenue accrued from them in 1985. The excise duty on foreign travel which is chargeable on tickets issued for travel to destinations outside the State (other than Northern Ireland) amounted to £6,184,479 in 1985.

asked the Minister for Finance the total amount of finance allocated to the tourism sector from the Exchequer in 1985; the percentage this represented of total Exchequer spending on the economic services; and the proportion which was allocated to other sectors such as industry and agriculture.
