Vol. 364 No. 11

Written Answers. - Income Tax Refunds.

59.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange for the payment of a refund of income tax to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who has been out of work since 15 January and who is entitled to a refund.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes who has been dealing with the taxpayer's affairs has neither been advised that the taxpayer had ceased employment nor has he received an application for a repayment of tax from the taxpayer. On contacting the taxpayer's employer the inspector was advised that the taxpayer retired on 21 January 1986 and is entitled to a pension from that date. The inspector will now communicate directly with the taxpayer in the matter.

60.

asked the Minister for Finance if a further income tax refund is due to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; and if so, if payments can be made to her as she is in urgent need of the funds concerned.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that on the basis of the information available to the inspector of taxes, the taxpayer recently recommenced employment. A certificate of taxfree allowances for the current year, 1985-86, incorporating all the allowances to which the taxpayer is entitled was issued to her on 14 March 1986, in respect of her new employment. Any refund due will be made by her employer on operation of this certificate.
