Grants are available from the EC for the modernisation of fishing vessels between nine and 33 metres in length and may be applied for through BIM who also provide national grant assistance under their marine credit plant. EC funds are also available to assistant the disposal of obsolete vessels but the conditions and terms applicable to the scheme are very restrictive and do not consider it appropriate to introduce it here.
