Vol. 365 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

25.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a waiting period will have expired in relation to the payment of a previous grant on the same house for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who wishes to apply for a grant.

Grants for the provision of water, sewerage and bathroom facilities in this house were paid on 30 September 1982. The present occupier of the house, may now apply for the remaining categories of grants available under the 1985 house improvement grants scheme.

26.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a house improvement grant approval will be reconsidered for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford with a view to increasing the level of this approval in view of the high expenditure involved.

This applicant is not eligible for the special grant for pre-1940 dwellings as the approved cost of the repair and reconstruction works of the house as estimated by the Department's inspector did not reach the qualifying threshold of £4,000. In her case, however, total grants of £3,400 have been approved as follows: £2,000 for necessary repair works to the fabric of the house (including windows and a door), £600 for provision of a bathroom and £400 each for the installation of water and sewerage facilities.
