Vol. 365 No. 4

Written Answers. - Irish Family Planning Association.

10.

asked the Minister for Health if he has given a committment to the Irish Family Planning Association to provide funds for their new resource centre; the amount of the funds promised; the purposes of this centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An application for grant aid towards the cost of operating the educational resource centre has been received from the Irish Family Planning Association and is at present under consideration within my Department.

It is understood that this centre seeks to expand the range of information and advice available to those with a responsible involvement in educating young persons for personal relationships and was established by the Irish Family Planning Association in order to provide advice, information and education resources in the area of sex education and preparation for personal relationships, with particular reference to the needs of those adults who are involved in working with young people, most typically parents, school teachers and youth leaders.

I officially opened this centre in my capacity as Minister for Health on 10 February this year.
