Vol. 365 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin Port and Docks Board Pensions.

106.

asked the Minister for Communications if he will agree to the request of the Dublin Port and Docks Board to provide a State guarantee to the pensions of the board's workers; if he is aware of the very real concern and indeed unrest among workers on this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is the responsibility of the Dublin Port and Docks Board to make the necessary superannuation arrangements for its employees in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Harbours Act, 1946.

The best guarantee regarding pensions that Dublin Port and Docks Board workers can have is by continuing good and flexible industrial relations at the port. The present position is encouraging in that respect.
