Written Answers - Grant Payments.

27.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a house improvement grant application for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be reconsidered in view of the misunderstanding in relation to a grant paid previously to his father on a separate house.

The application in this case related to the pre-1981 scheme and the reason for the refusal of a grant was that the work was not satisfactorily completed by 30 June 1981 as required in the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended).

The waiting period of seven years has not elapsed since the payment of a previous reconstruction grant in respect of the house in question in October 1980. Accordingly a grant cannot be approved at this stage. The applicant has been so informed and has also been advised that, subject to the proposed works being deferred in the meantime, he may renew his application on the expiry of the waiting period.
