Vol. 365 No. 14

Written Answers. - Superannuation Scheme.

68.

asked the Minister for the Environment the date on which representations were received on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and the reason no contact has since been made by the appropriate section of his Department.

Representations were received in my Department from the Deputy on behalf of the person the subject of the question on 10 March last, in connection with the person's wish to be superannuated under the Local Government (Superannuation Revision) Scheme, 1984.

The case was taken up immediately in correspondence with the local authority and following detailed examination it was established that the person concerned did not receive all the necessary information in relation to joining the scheme. Accordingly, the local authority have been informed that he may now be allowed to exercise an option for the scheme. The examination was completed on 25 April 1986.

The Deputy's representations were acknowledged at time of receipt and a letter informing her of the decision reached was issued by my Department on 2 May 1986.
