Vol. 366 No. 6

Written Answers - Mental Handicap Services.

19.

asked the Minister for Health when finance will be made available to bring the new facility in Cheeverstown House, Dublin 12, into operation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

During 1984 I allocated funds to bring into operation 124 day and 50 residential places at Cheeverstown House. The filling of these places was slow and disappointing. At present there are 124 day attenders and ten residents. The continuation of the commissioning of Cheeverstown House will be considered with the Eastern Health Board as sympathetically as possible in the light of the resources available to me for the development of the mental handicap services.

Question No. 20 re-entered for oral reply.
