Vol. 366 No. 6

Written Answers - Bovine TB Eradication.

81.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will consider transferring part of the £26 million estimated under heading M1, page 140, revised Estimates for the Public Service 1986 which may not be fully taken up, towards extra TB testing under heading C2, page 138.

The question of the resources which can be made available for the bovine disease eradication programme is one of many issues which are kept under continuous review in the context of the overall allocation for 1986 for the Vote for Agriculture. This process involves a comprehensive overview of all subheads and the continuous monitoring of all expenditure and receipts, both capital and non-capital. It is not amenable to piecemeal treatment and is not a matter of simply isolating one issue to the exclusion of others.
